GENERAL HANDLING REFERENCE
Reconstitution & handling guide.
Check the product instructions first. Diluent type, storage, stability, and preparation can vary by formulation.
Use clean technique. Wash hands and disinfect vial stoppers before handling.
Avoid temperature extremes. If the product's validated instructions call for bacteriostatic water and it has been refrigerated, allow it to come toward room temperature naturally unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise. Do not heat it.
Tilt the vial approximately 45°. When adding the specified diluent, direct it gently toward the inside wall rather than forcefully into the material.
Avoid aggressive shaking. If the validated instructions permit mixing, use gentle movement rather than vigorous agitation.
Allow time to dissolve. Do not assume persistent cloudiness, particles, foaming, or incomplete dissolution is normal.
Inspect before proceeding. Unexpected discoloration, precipitation, particles, or persistent cloudiness are reasons to stop and consult the product's handling specifications.
Label the preparation. Record the preparation date, concentration, and other relevant information to prevent mix-ups.
Follow product-specific storage requirements. Do not assume one refrigeration rule applies to every formulation.
Protect sterility. Do not reuse single-use preparation supplies or treat sterile handling as optional.
